FLEXIBLE RETENTION OPTIONS

The issue:
Many customers were completely satisfied with the operating structure of retention policies found in previous versions of Veeam’s Office 365 backup solution, but customers who also use Veeam’s flagship product, Veeam Backup & Replication™, wished that the retention in Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 operated in a similar way.


The solution:
Each individual customer can now choose between either retention option. The traditional, item-level approach or the snapshot-based approach (full + forever incremental), similar to Veeam Backup & Replication.

OFFICE 365 DATA PROTECTION REPORTS

The issue:
Many of Veeam's Office 365 backup customers were looking for advanced visibility into their Office 365 data protection environments.

The solution:
Three reports have been added into the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 user interface, as well as via PowerShell or RESTful API. These reports identify unprotected Office 365 mailboxes and give users the ability to manage license and storage usage.

SIMPLIFIED MANAGEMENT OF LARGER ENVIRONMENTS

The issue:
The ESE data storage technology from Microsoft has a file size limit of 64TB per year and per repository, and large customers creating Office 365 backup files can run into issues completing backups and managing the design of a large backup infrastructure.

The solution:
Veeam’s storage repositories are intelligent enough to know when you are about to hit a file size limit and automatically scale out the repository, eliminating this file size limit issue.
